Rooms Are Never Finished

Memory

Desolation's desert, I'm here with shadows
of your voice, your lips as mirage, now trembling.
Grass and dust of distance have let this desert
bloom with your roses.

Near me breathes the air that's your kiss. It smoulders,
slowly-slowly, musk of itself. And farther,
drop by drop, beyond the horizon, shines the
dew of your lit face.

Memory's placed its hand so on Time's face, touched it
so caressingly that although it's still our
parting's morning, it's as if night's come, bringing
you to my bare arms.

Pushy?

I enjoyed the beautiful weather with a walk on the wharf today, then sat on my favorite bench with a scoop of acai sorbet and watched the Sea Lions playing in the surf and the birds diving. All was serene. There was a large group of kids, maybe a school field trip, eating their lunches. One group of 3 young girls had a ball of fishing line with a hook and were trying to toss the hook up to snare one of the birds. I watched in horror as the mom noticed then turned a blind eye. Probably too afraid to confront her kids as she knew they might have a tantrum or otherwise publicly embarrass her. So I decided to REALLY embarrass her. I walked up to the kids, pointed at the mom, and said, "Is that your mom?". When they said yes, I told her that I was going to take the fishing line away from the kids because it winds around the legs and necks of the wildlife, causing them to die a slow and painful death. The kids seemed surprised by my graphic description, and they asked me if it was really dangerous for the birds and sea lions. I told them that it was, and that "someone" should have told them that before. They immediately handed it over and then went looking for more to throw in the trash.

More proof that kids are inherently good and kind if only someone will guide them (and even sometimes if they have no one).

A couple months ago I also forced some Frenchmen to pick up the cigarette butts that they flicked onto the ground close to the water. Paris stinks of piss and trash, doesn't give them the right to litter all over the rest of the world.
